Southern Suns Club Policy: Coach & Team Manager Appointments
Many factors contribute to an individualโs enjoyment of sport, their willingness to participate, and their desire to continue. Coaches and team managers play a crucial role in this experience. A good coach will inspire, develop, and retain players. A good team manager will ensure a team is well-organized and informed of all team, competition, and club activities.
A team cannot participate in competitions without a designated coach and team manager. If a team does not have individuals willing to fulfill these roles, the team may be withdrawn or denied entry into the competition.
The club can assist teams in securing experienced coaches if requested. These engagements occur on a private arrangement basis, including any payment for coaching services.
All coaches and team managers must comply with mandatory child protection legislation. At a minimum, they must hold a current and valid Working with Children Check or qualify under an appropriate exemption clause (e.g., registered teacher).
Additional protocols may be required based on current government legislation and competition policies. Non-compliance with any Child Protection Policy will result in immediate dismissal from all club activities.
Southern Suns will support current coaches with development opportunities through relevant qualifications, courses, and clinics available to members.
Coach and team manager appointments are at the sole discretion of the club and will not constitute grounds for a refund if a player withdraws from the club due to dissatisfaction with these appointments.
